Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Dog Rules

If your vacation rental allows dogs please note our pet rules: We allow up to two small to medium size (less than 50 lbs) dogs only. They must be well-behaved and house-trained. You will be charged for any damage caused by your pet. Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Freeman Park are pet friendly and for everyone's enjoyment we have just a couple of ordinances we hope you'll follow.  

Carolina Beach - Off Season

Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times. Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1 through March 31 and during this time, you must have on your person a bag or container for pet waste until it can be properly disposed of. Said bag or container must be produced upon request by anyone authorized to enforce this ordinance. 

Carolina Beach - Summer Season

Dogs are allowed on leash April 1 through September 30 between 5PM and 9AM ONLY. During these times, you must have on your person a bag or container for pet waste until it can be properly disposed of. Said bag or container must be produced upon request by anyone authorized to enforce this ordinance. 

Kure Beach - Summer Season

The Town of Kure Beach only allows leashed dogs on the beach from October 1 - March 31. 

Fort Fisher State Park and Recreation Area

Dogs are allowed on this beach year around. Call 910-458-5798 for directions and additional information.

Freeman Park

Freeman Park is the northernmost tip of Pleasure Island in Carolina Beach. Dogs are permitted on this beach all year and can be off leash from October 1 through March 31 provided they respond to voice commands and the owner is within a reasonable distance from the pet.
