Everything You Need to Know Before You Visit with Your Pup

Planning to bring your dog to Carolina Beach or Kure Beach? A1 Property Management’s local guide breaks down the current beach dog rules, seasonal leash requirements, and where pets are welcome on Pleasure Island. Review the guidelines below so you and your four-legged travel companion can enjoy a safe, stress-free coastal visit.

Carolina Beach

Dogs are welcome on the beach, but rules change depending on the season:

 

April 1 – September 30

  • Dogs are allowed before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM only
  • Must be leashed at all times

 

October 1 – March 31

  • Dogs are allowed anytime on the beach
  • Must remain on a leash

Additional Rules

  • You must carry a waste bag at all times
  • Clean up after your pet (strictly enforced)

 

Freeman Park

Freeman Park is the northernmost tip of Pleasure Island in Carolina Beach. Dogs are permitted on this beach all year and can be off leash from October 1 through March 31 provided they respond to voice commands and the owner is within a reasonable distance from the pet.

 Kure Beach Dog Rules

April 1 – September 30

  • Dogs are NOT allowed on the beach from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Allowed before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM
  • Must be on a leash

October 1 – March 31

  • Dogs are allowed anytime
  • Must remain leashed

Important

  • Waste bags are required
    Owners must clean up after pets

Year-round access: Dogs are allowed on this beach year-round.
