Freeman Park

As one of the few beaches in North Carolina you can drive your 4x4 vehicle on, Freeman Park offers the freedom of camping, day trips and tons of fun!

Highlights

- Dogs are welcome year-round.

  • April 1 – Sept 30: dogs must be leashed.
  • Oct 1 – March 31: off-leash allowed if under voice control.

- Overnight primitive camping used to be offered and remains a classic part of Freeman Park’s draw, but it’s currently suspended due to beach erosion and nourishment projects. Check current local updates before planning a camping trip.

- Surf fishing is very popular here — anglers cast right from the beach. Crabbing or casting for minnows are also common beachside activities.
