Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Parking Rules
PARKING
Paid Parking Schedule
- Peak Season (March 1 – Oct 31): Enforced 9 AM – 8 PM.
- Winter Season (Nov 1 – Dec 31): Enforced 9 AM – 5 PM.
- Free Period: Parking is free from Jan 1 – Feb 28 (excluding private lots).
Rates for Visitors
- Standard Lots: $6/hour or $25/day.
- Premium Lots: $7/hour or $35/day (Note: some premium lots may enforce peak rates year-round).
- On-Street Parking: $5/hour (no daily rate option).
- Winter Rates (Nov–Dec): All town lots drop to $2/hour or $10/day.
- Weekly Pass: $100 (available online or at Town Hall).
Freeman Park (4x4 Beach)
- Required: 4x4 access passes are required year-round.
- Daily Pass: $50 (April–Sept) | $30 (Oct–March).
- Annual Pass: $225 (discounted to $110 if bought in person during December).

- Parking is free in any handicap space located in a town operated lot or in front of a meter for vehicles with a valid hang tag or plate.

GOLF CARTS
- Electric and gas golf carts are allowed in Carolina Beach. Drivers must be 16 or older with a valid driver's license. You may only drive on roads with a posted speed limit of 35MPH or less. All regular road rules apply and keep right to allow for passing vehicles.
- Carts must be equipped with headlights, a review mirror, side mirrors on each side of the cart, reflex reflectors, windshield wipers, taillights and turn signal lamps.
- Seat belts are required for every person seated on the golf cart. Seat belts must be worn by all passengers exceeding 8 years of age and exceeding 80 lbs of weight. A child passenger less than 8 years of age and less than 80lbs in weight shall be properly secured in a weight-appropriate passenger restraint system.
- Golf carts can be rented from SunFun Rentals or from Icon Superstore Golf Cart Rentals in Carolina Beach.

- Hours: 8 AM – 6 PM daily.
Free Period: Parking is completely free from October 1 – March 14.
Rates for Visitors
- Hourly: $6/hour.
- Daily: $25/day.
- Weekly Pass: $125.
- Full Season Pass: $225.
Special Rules & Free Spots
- Handicap Parking: Free in all designated handicap spaces with a valid placard (both beaches).
- Sunday Church Parking: In Kure Beach, specific areas (like the KB Community Center lot) offer free parking on Sundays from 8 AM – 1 PM.
Fort Fisher State Recreation Area
- Offers a large free public lot at the Visitor Center, though it fills up very early in the summer.

GOLF CARTS
