Where: Carolina Beach State Park
When: Typically March - October. Begins at sunset and ends 15 minutes before park closing
Free family event hosted by the Cape Fear Astronomy Society! View the stars, planets and more through their telescopes. Please check weather conditions before arrival.
19th Annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick's Day Low Tide Run 5K/10K
Where: Starting Line is at the Carolina Beach Elementary School
When: March 16th, 2024
Wear something green on this flat course through Carolina Beach! This non-profit organization's purpose is to raise money for New Hanover County residents who find themselves struggling financially due to a cancer diagnoses. Awards are handed out at the end of this great cause!
Pleasure Island Spring Fishing Surf Challenge
Where: Carolina Beach & Kure Beach
When: April 13 - 14, 2024
This spring fishing event is team based, and each team can compete in four different categories. There are plenty of ways to win and a chance to win over $10,000 in cash and other prizes. Teams or Solo Anglers over 21 are welcome. Find the latest updates on their website and how to register,
Race for the Planet: 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
Where: North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher
When: April 21 - 28, 2024
This flat course begins and ends at the NC Aquarium, taking you through scenic views of different areas in and around Fort Fisher. Proceeds help fund the Aquarium's Green Initiatives. Awards are handed out for both the 5K and the 1 mile.
Island Arts Festival
Where: Carolina Beach Lake Park
When: 2024
Support local artisan vendors and a good cause! This annual event helps a non-profit, the Island Arts Council, in their mission to create a better community through art installations, murals and school supports. Take in the scenic views of the lake and the many crafts. Demonstrations, interactive events and shows for the kids will be going on throughout the day.
23rd Annual Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman Fishing Tournament
Where: Kure Beach Fishing Pier
When: May 10, 2024
Hosted by the Got-Em-On Live Bait Club, the day is filled with fun, fishing and food for those with disabilities. With one of the largest turnouts of any tournament annually, participants and viewers are sure to have a great time. End the event with an exciting awards ceremony!
Pleasure Island Jeep Jam
Where: Carolina Beach, Kure Beach & Fort Fisher
When: May 17 - 18, 2024
Hang out in multiple areas on Pleasure Island while celebrating all things Jeep. Live music, food trucks, vendors, a Show and Shine Jeep Exhibition and more will be offered. There are even activities for kids and leashed dogs are welcome. This event is open to everyone!
